Bringing Baseball Back to the Olympics

In 2016, the International Olympic Committee executive board announced exciting news about bringing back baseball and softball events in the Summer Games 2020. This is huge news as these events were not included in the previous 2012 and 2016 Games.

The board of committee understood that baseball and softball were enjoyed by a lot of people, and these sports belong to the Olympic stage. With the collaboration with Tokyo 2020 organizing committee, the board decided to return the baseball games

It was in 1904 when the Olympic Games event debuted baseball. After this, the sport was played in several Summer Games until it was only considered an exhibition through 1988. The sport became an official Olympic sport in the 1992 Games

Only after five consecutive Olympics, the board of executives voted baseball out, along with softball in 2008. That year is the last time baseball was played in the renowned sporting event.
