First on our list is pop-rock star, Avril Lavigne. Before the Canadian singer made it big in the music industry, she was first a star hockey player in Napanee, Ontario. She was 10 years old when she started playing for the boy’s hockey league in which she was recognized as Most Value Player twice in a row.

After this, she played for the girl’s baseball and hockey teams in the town’s high school. If you are wondering why she quit sports, it was because she was signed by a record label at 16. This resulted in her hit record “Let Go” which includes the ultra-popular Sk8er Boi.

Caitlyn Jenner

Winning gold in the decathlon event in the 1976 Olympics, Caitlyn Jenner definitely started to gain fame and celebrity in sports. She first competed in 1972 when she was still new to the sports. However, when she came back in 1976, she won gold and even set a world record for getting the most points for 10 events.

She retired the same day she won. Today, she is known as a reality star courtesy of Keeping up With the Kardashians and her own show I Am Cait. She gained fame as a trans-rights activist.

David Beckham

David Beckham has been a football superstar even before he married Spice Girls’ Victoria Adams, now Beckham. He played on England’s national team, as well as in Manchester United and Real Madrid. Beckham retired back in 2013.


He remains famous as a celebrity endorser and model. Moreover, he is associated with various Hollywood stars. He is also friends with Tom Cruise, Ryan Reynolds, and Snoop Dogg.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

While many consider professional wrestling a fake sport, and some do not even consider it a sport at all, this list includes Dwayne Johnson. Also known as The Rock, he became famous for his theatrical fights in the pro-wrestling arena. However, he also played football at the University of Miami in which he won the 1991 national championship.

The Rock is now famous in the film industry as Hobbs in the Fast and the Furious Franchise. He has also appeared in countless films including his notable performance as Maui in Disney’s Moana.

Gina Carano

Gina Carano earned her fame as a remarkable fighter in mixed martial arts. She has a record of 7-1, making people root for her against Ronda Rousey in 2014. Unfortunately, this fight did not happen as she has retired back in 2009.

During that year, she also debuted as an actress with the film Blood and Bone. She has appeared in various movies since then including in the Fast and the Furious Franchise. So, Carano definitely has roots in sports but has also gained more fame in Hollywood.

Jason Statham

Another member of the Fast and the Furious franchise, Jason Statham is another athlete who became a Hollywood actor. He was a great diver, being a member of the British national team at that time. The team won 12th place in the world championship back in ‘92.
